Doctoral Research
The doctoral research focused on developing and evaluating a novel negative selection algorithm for anomaly detection in non-stationary environments. The algorithm utilized self-adaptive control techniques and was inspired by the thymic negative selection process found in natural immune systems. The research demonstrated that this algorithm outperforms the NSMutation algorithm in terms of computational time, generating a minimum repertoire of competent detectors to identify anomalies in network activity data sets without compromising the quality of the detectors. The algorithm's effectiveness lies in its ability to mimic the natural immune system's screening and deletion of self-reactive T-cells that recognize self-cells.
Master's Degree Dissertation
The original Yukpa, an indigenous community in Venezuela's Perijá mountain range, faced displacement due to Spanish missionaries and ranch owners' arrival. To escape violence, some Yukpa moved to Maracaibo. This study explores how the forced displacement impacted their land-based culture.
